FIS Freestyle Coordinator, Mr. Fitzgerald came to Inawashiro and had inspections 3 venue.

For the FIS Freestyle World Championships Inawashiro to be held in March next year, we presented a report about the preparation progress at the FIS (International Ski Federation) Congress met at South Africa in the end of this last May. On August 4th and 5th, the FIS Freestyle Coordinator, Mr. Fitzgerald came to Inawashiro and had inspections at 3 skiing resort sites to hold the Championships and discussed in detail about tasks of each section. At Snow Paradise Inawashiro, where is the site for Ski Cross, Mr. Fitzgerald explained with some illustrations drawn by him to check start gate, to secure the space for each team at start area and to confirm temporary constructions at finish area. At Alts Bandai for HalfPipe site, he gave explanations for the position of judges house, ceremony area to confirm, the procedure or sequence of doping control & press conference. At Listel Ski Fantasia, to stage Moguls & Dual Moguls and also Aerials events, he confirmed the position of large monitor, its size, the setting positions of air bumps and T-bars. Since all of the disciplines, except HalfPipe, is the Olympic event, we received comments in consideration of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in 2010. During press conference after the inspection, Mr. Fitzgerald commented, “I could have confirmed the details with prepared course maps of each discipline. we are planning to have an inspection inviting those who concerned with the Championships in this coming fall. I appreciate the Ski Association of Japan, local people involved and the Organizing Committee.” I appreciate the Ski Association of Japan, local people involved and the Organizing Committee.” The reporters attended the press conference asked questions including impression for courses, the inspection in this coming fall and his hope as the FIS Freestyle Coordinator. Mr. Fitzgerald answered, “The written plan is compiled in detail and we are in a stage to complete the rest of 20%. During the fall inspection, we will check to host the Championships perfectly.” and he also indicated “Athletes who won the daffy course where is said the hardest course in the world (for Moguls & Dual Moguls course) will be a key-person for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.” On August 5th, Mr. Fitzgerald had meetings with each section staff , respectively to discuss about the way to operate the Championships and staffing plan, etc. in detail.
