FIS Freestyle World Championships
Freestyle Skiing - this new sport which was born in the US - the nation of freedom in 1970s has been provided with rules as an athletic and the first Freestyle FIS World Cup Games were held in 1986. At first, there were three events - Mogul, Aerial and Ballet (now Acro). In the same year the World Ski Championships had started in Tignes, France. It has become goals as a big title of athletes all over the world as well as the Olympic Games. After the Albertville Olympics in 1992 in which Moguls had become formal events, the opening interval has been set once two years between Olympic Games. Since the Championships Meiringen Hasliberg, Dual Moguls has been an official event. On the other hand, this Championship was the last one that Acro had been the event. After that, new events - Ski Cross and Halfpipe have been admitted from the Championships Ruka in 2005 and the Championships have been organized fully.
Inawashiro is the cradle of Freestyle Skiing Culture in Asia
This is the second time for Freestyle Ski Championships to be hosted in Asia since Championships NAGANO 1997. It had a meaning like a pre-championships for NAGANO Olympics in the following year. In that point, Championships INAWASHIRO has some different nuance from Championships NAGANO, because Town Inawashiro is the place where closely connected with freestyle skiing.
