It is a great pleasure and honor to host the FIS Freestyle World Championships INAWASHIRO 2009 at Inawashiro and Bandai in Fukushima prefecture blessed with the
beauty of nature including Mt. Bandai and Lake Inawashiro.
It is going to be the second time that the Freestyle World Championships will take place in Japan after Nagano in 1997.
We are pulling out all the stops to prepare for this big event to make it great that everyone,including top athletes from all over the world to participate in this competition, can share the amaze and excitement, for example, conducting the Carbon Offset project to embody the event concept "Living in Good Harmony with Nature" as well as the Exhibition about Taste & Technique of Aizu, Fukushima organized with another event concept "Warm Hospitality".
This World Championships has a significant meaning en route to Vancouver Olympics to be held in 2010. I believe it will promote freestyle skiing and international exchange and also
vitalize hosting region. I also hope it will be an opportunity to introduce bountiful nature and fascinating traditional culture of Aizu, Fukushima and Japan to the world.
In March 2009, we will welcome all of you coming to Inawashiro and Bandai from Japan and around the world, with our "Hospitality".
It is a great pleasure and honor for us to host Freestyle FIS Freestyle World Championships INAWASHIRO JAPAN 2009 that ranks as Olympics, in our Town Inawashiro, Fukushima prefecture. Our town had taken place various Ski Championships so far, mainly the National Athletic Meet Winter Championships, Freestyle Ski Championships, and so on. We will aim at operating this time of the World Championships with our warm hospitality, under consideration for natural environment. We are now in the process of preparing to make it wonderful one so that the athletes, officials, spectators, and everybody can share impressions and excitements. It is our hope that Japan popularizes and encourages winter sports in Asia as well as promotes international exchanges and regional vitalizing through those traditional international championships. Moreover, we believe that it will be a chance to send the name of Japan, Fukushima prefecture, and Aizu around the world. We expect that a lot of people not only from Japan but also from all over the world to come Inawashiro town where has good natural environment include Mt. Bandai and Lake Inawashiro in winter of 2009.
